D. W. Cruickshank, «The Types of Pedro Disses», Journal of the Printing Historical Society, 17 (1982-83), 72-91. Evidence from one document and from numerous printed books reveals that while Disses may have begun work on his capitals as early as 1683, they were not ready for use until the summer and autumn of 1685.

The most helpful type specimens for the Hispanist are: Type Specimen Facsimiles, edited by John Dreyfus, 2 volumes (London, 1963-72); H. D. L. Vervliet, Sixteenth-century Printing Types of the Low Countries (Amsterdam, 1968); The Type Specimen of the Vatican Press 1628, edited by H. D. L. Vervliet (Amsterdam, 1967); The Type Specimen of Delacolonge, edited by Harry Carter (Amsterdam, 1969); The Type-specimens of Claude Lamesle, edited by A. F. Johnson (Amsterdam, 1965).

Facsimiles of some of the earliest Golden-Age plays have existed for many years, e. g. Encina's Cancionero of 1496 (1928), Lucas Fernández's Farsas y églogas of 1514 (1929), Torres Naharro's Propalladia of 1517 (1936), Diego Sánchez de Badajoz's Recopilación en metro of 1554 (1929), Gil Vicente's Copilaçam de todalas obras of 1562 (1928) and the Autos, comedias y farsas de la Biblioteca Nacional (1962). The most ambitious facsimile of a late dramatist is The comedias of Calderón (1973), but publishers such as Puvill of Barcelona are gradually making available more and more old Spanish printing in facsimile or microfiche.
